About this scam
CryptoFX was a purported automated cryptocurrency-trading scheme that the US SEC charged in March 2024 (with co-defendants totalling 17 individuals) for allegedly running a $300 million Ponzi scheme. Investors - many targeted within Latino and Spanish-speaking communities - were promised steady high returns from AI "trading bots", which were allegedly used to disguise that payouts came from new deposits. This entry reflects the regulator's public allegations - see the linked notice.
