About this scam
QuadrigaCX was Canada's largest cryptocurrency exchange that collapsed in February 2019 after founder Gerald Cotten allegedly died in India, supposedly taking the passwords to $190 million in customer funds with him. Subsequent investigations revealed that Cotten had been running a fraud, misappropriating customer funds and creating fictitious trading accounts. The Ontario Securities Commission confirmed widespread misuse of client assets.
