About this scam
HashOcean was a cloud mining platform that launched in 2015 and collapsed in late 2016 after operating as a Ponzi scheme. The platform promised guaranteed daily returns from Bitcoin mining operations but had no actual mining infrastructure. At its peak, HashOcean had over 500,000 members and processed over $500 million in deposits. The operators disappeared overnight, taking all remaining funds with them. HashOcean was one of the earliest and most damaging cloud mining scams in cryptocurrency history.
