About this scam
OneCoin was marketed worldwide as a cryptocurrency, but according to US authorities (the FTC and the Department of Justice) it was a multi-billion-dollar Ponzi and pyramid scheme that sold "coins" with no genuine blockchain and paid recruiters for bringing in new investors. In 2023 the DOJ sentenced a co-founder to 20 years in prison, and its founder has been wanted since fleeing in 2017. A DOJ victim-compensation (remission) programme has also been run. This entry reflects the regulator's public findings - see the linked notice.
